Differential Count, CBC & Automated Complete Blood Picture
Description
This virtual lab covers the complete blood count from manual microscopy to automation. Students perform a manual WBC differential count and examine and report a peripheral blood smear. They also explore the principles of automated hematology analyzers and interpret CBC reports, histograms, scattergrams and flags. Interactive simulations and quizzes accompany each section, followed by a final exam and a certificate of completion.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this lab, students will be able to perform a manual WBC differential count, calculate absolute values, and examine and report a peripheral blood smear. They will also be able to explain the principles of automated analyzers, interpret CBC results, histograms and flags, and recognize common pre-analytical errors and interferences.
